Cedrick Cotton Obituary

On May 31, 1974,  Cedrick Dewayne Cotton was born in Houston, Tx to the parents of Delores Floyd and Robert  Cotton.   As a youth, he attended Parker Music Academy and Johnston Jr. High School of the Performing Arts  where he honed his skills as an award winning drummer.  After Junior High, he went on to attend Lamar High School where he excelled in athletics. He donned the #32  jersey as the star fullback on the Lamar Redskins varsity football team.  If you needed a goal line touchdown, #32 was the man to score.  After high school, Cedrick joined his big brother Maverick, cousin Wayne Perry and high school friend Jay Green and formed an R&B group called Ideal. They, performed the local circuit until their big break.  They signed with Virgin Records and became a successful platinum selling group with hits like “ Get Gone” ,  “ Creep Inn” and “ Whatever “. Their success allowed them to tour the world with some of the most well known artists in the world.
