CORNELIUS (CARL) ERVING WILLIAMS was born at 11:46 AM on February 12, 1946 to Angie and George Williams. He was raised in Freeport's East End. As a child he was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Freeport, TX. He graduated from Lanier High School in 1964. After graduation form high school he moved to Los Angeles, California where he attended Compton Community College. He was drafted into the Army and served three years, from 1967 to 1970. While enlisted he was a part of the Computer in Fire Direction (Artillery). After his military service he returned to California where he worked for the US Postal Service from 1970 to 1973. He then returned home to Texas where he went to work for South Western Bell. He retired in 1995. After a couple of years in retirement he went back to work at Time Warner Cable Co. where he retired in 2008.
In his spare time Carl loved fishing, cooking, watching old westerns, and watching cooking shows on tv. He also loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Michael Williams and sister Zimmie Faye Williams.
He leaves to cherish the memories his wife Denise Guidry Williams; daughters Corliss Williams (Ken) of Compton, CA, Rey Gonzales Mack (Abel); sons Preston K. Williams (Vanessa), Cornelius Williams Jr., and Chad Williams (Annalisa); grandchildren Darrian, Abel Jr., Lenora, Kendra, Ken Jr., Justus, Preston Jr., Weston, Amari, Presley, Chad Jr., Ruby, and ElliAna; two great-grandchildren, A'dynn and Addilynn. One brother George Williams Jr. (Linda); two sisters, Betty Dennis (Eulus) and Patricia Kellum both of Denver, CO; two loving aunts, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
